I thought I was one of the few parents who had "night and day" kids. In my case it's reversed, my eldest son is the academic and my daughter is the artist. She's constantly comparing herself to him and no matter how hard I dtry to build her self conficence, she still seems to feel inadequate. It helps to say it out loud and I'm trying to accept that this could be a struggle for a while.

The thoughts about your dad really got to me. My dad died from alcoholism and we never had that time to repair our relationship. I guess I will always wonder what it owuldve been like if he'd quit drinking.
