Teen Prom Checklist
6 Weeks Before Prom:
Hairstyles-Clip pictures of your favorite hairstyles from magazines and websites. Skin-Drink plenty of water, eat fruit, exercise, and wash your face nightly before going to bed. Do an at-home facial or splurge at a spa. Teeth-Schedule a dental cleaning appointment for two weeks before prom. Dress-Go shopping with your mom or a friend to find the perfect dress. Accessories- Plan ahead for the right earrings, necklace, bracelet and shoes. If you don’t have a matching evening bag, buy or borrow one for your cash, ID and cell phone. Limo-Make reservations and request confirmation and a receipt for the deposit. Restaurant-Make your dinner reservations. Be sure to allow plenty of time for traffic to get to prom. 4 Weeks Before Prom:
Tickets-Buy your tickets or make sure that your date has gotten them. Hair and Nails-Make appointments to have your hair and nails done. We recommend B Lee Salon, http://www.BLeeSalon.com Owner, Brooke Smith worked with Scott Cole in Buckhead before opening her new location. Bring your hairstyle ideas for inspiration. Parents-Clear your plans with your parents. Ensure their comfort by giving them places, times and phone numbers of pre and post-prom parties. Date-Let your date know your expectations of the evening regarding sex, drugs and alcohol. (See Talking Points for Parents and Teens) Shoes-If your shoes are new, wear them around the house to break them in. Skin-Time for another facial.
Two weeks Before Prom:
Corsages and Boutonniere-Order matching corsages and boutonnieres. Dental-Have your teeth cleaned. Outfit-Try on your prom dress and all accessories to make sure you’re still happy with your choices.
One Week Before Prom:
Eyebrows Have them waxed at least 3 days prior to prom. You don’t want the redness to ruin your look. Shoes-Keep breaking them in if they’re new. Teeth-Use an at-home whitening product for a picture-perfect smile. Parents-Talk to your parents about your commitment not to drink and drive. (See Prom Talking Points for Parents and Teens)
Day of Prom:
Boutonniere-Pick up your date’s boutonniere. Nails-Get a manicure. Eyebrows-Pluck stray eyebrow hairs. Hair-Go to the salon or do your own hair (with help if needed).
Prom Night:
Relax, have fun and get lots of pictures! Don’t drink and drive!
